G R Krishna Chand Avatar

Hi, it’s Krishna here! My research interests lie in the intersection of mechanics and magnetism. I tend to use a lot of tools from applied mathematics such as variational calculus, numerical bifurcation analysis and nonlinear dynamics. Besides, I have worked in various areas such computational fluid dynamics, flow instabilities, helicopter dynamics, fluid-structure interactions and biomechanics. Reach me via krishnaagr@iisc.ac.in!

Mohd. Tahseen

Hello, I’m Tahseen. I am a graduate student, working on Shape Memory Alloys within this lab. SMAs are smart materials which hold great promise for aerospace as well as biomedical domains. The fascinating properties of SMAs: ‘Shape Memory Effect’ and ‘Superelasticity’ come from the material undergoing a reversible phase transformation from one crystalline structure to another. Our current focus lies in examining the microstructures emerging from these transformations theoretically and seek new ways of engineering the microstructure, thereby facilitating the discovery of novel SMAs with unprecedented macroscopic properties, which are validated experimentally. Feel free to reach out!

Samanvay Anand (jointly with Dr. Rajesh Chaunsali)

Hi, I am Samanvay! My research lies in studying the non-linear dynamics of multi-stable lattices. Basically, during the propagation of elastic waves through these multistable lattices, the switching between the two stable equilibria gives rise to a nonlinear wave known as a transition wave. Multi-stability helps to better understand the propagation of these nonlinear waves and explore the related novel phenomena. Besides, I have also worked in the areas like computational solid mechanics and fracture mechanics.
